Under the ‘Discover Thainess Enjoy Amusement of Siam’ theme, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched their 36th Thailand Tourism Festival (TTF) with great fanfare yesterday.
This year’s edition of the festival is anticipated to attract over 600,000 visitors between January 13th -17th 2016 to Bangkok’s Lumphini Park. TTF 2016 features four distinctive zones, designed to educate and stimulate travel around the land of smiles.
Zone1 promotes events and festivals planned across Thailand, Zone 2 is a cultural village with products from five regions, Zone 3 promotes the 50 districts of Bangkok and Zone 4 is where the action is with non-stop live entertainment.
With lower numbers from overseas travelers expected in 2016, this event is aimed at promoting domestic tourism to Thais, expats and tourists, and is expected to generate over 500 million Baht in revenue or a 25 per cent year-on-year increase.
Thailand’s domestic tourism is seen as crucial for the country’s Tourism industry and therefore the government believes events like the TTF2016 could stimulate 150 million trips and 800 billion Baht in income.
Although many trips are made to the popular resorts such as Phuket, Hua Hin , Chiang Mai and Pattaya, visitors are being encouraged to visit hidden away regions and to go ‘off track’ as much as possible.
Either way with loads of top class celebrities, live music, cultural dancing, Opera, an abundance of arts and crafts, hundreds of cooking demonstrations and even the popular Alcazar Cabaret from Pattaya…. this is a huge attraction for all the family….and the best part of all is its all FREE as well.
The five-day Thailand Tourism Festival 2016 (TTF) is taking place now until January 17th from 12:00 – 22:00 Hrs.daily and entry is free of charge. Lumphini Park can be reached by bus, MRT (Silom station), and BTS (Saladaeng station).
